Volunteer Instructions

Where to Park

  • Parking for those volunteering in the Main Medical Tent and Finish Line area is available about a half mile from the Finish Line Medical Tent.
    • ***Directions to the lot forthcoming***
    • You must have a parking pass to enter the parking lot!
  • Parking for those volunteering for Medical Vans and Bike Patrol Team will be contacted directly.
  • If you are assigned to an on-course aid station, you will need to park at or near your aid station not at the main medical tent.  We cannot transport you to your on-course aid station.  You will get an email with the time of your assignment and parking location.

When to arrive

  • Please arrive at 5:45 am on Sunday if parking in the Medical Volunteer lot.
  • We ask you to arrive at this time as ALL STREETS SOUTH of 4th STREET CLOSE at 6:00 am.
  • Please check the Flying Pig’s Website for information pertaining to street closures.

What to Wear

  • Your red Flying Pig Medical T-shirt should be the outermost layer (You will receive this upon check-in on race day)
  • Wear layers – temperatures can range from the 40s to 70s
  • Be comfortable: Sweats/athletic wear, jeans, shorts, scrubs are all OK
  • Closed-toe shoes with backs.  No sandals or flip-flops.
  • Consider bringing a change of clothes as you never know when it might rain, or someone gets sick on you!
What to Bring
  • Bring Identification: Employee badge and driver’s license
  • Parking pass (display on windshield)
  • Tools of your trade: Stethoscope, blood pressure cuff, etc (Label any equipment you bring)
  • Wear a watch with a second hand
  • Bring a pen – we will have some, but they always wander off!
  • For safety concerns we want to limit the number of bags in the area.  Items can be stored in your car which is located about a half mile from the Finish Line Tent.  If you must bring a bag it is suggested that it be clear.  The police have reserved the right to search any bag.
  • We recommend that you back a lunch and snacks.  We do have some access to food but that is always a guarantee.
  • A positive attitude!
