On-Course Medical Support
- Medical Bike Teams
- Medical Vans
- Aid stations
- 5 on the Half Marathon Course
- 12 on the Full Marathon Course
The On-Course medical volunteers will evaluate medical problems the runner may encounter. An appropriate assessment includes vital signs and mental status.
The volunteer will call into Medical Communications via 2-Way radio or cell phone. Do not call 911. This keeps the medical care centralized and therefore better coordinated.
A decision will be made whether to:
- Continue runner
- Withdrawal and transfer to the Finish Line Medical Tent
- Transfer to hospital via ambulance
A runner can continue if:
- Normal mental status (Oriented to person, place, & time)
- Straight line progress toward finish
- Good competitive posture
- Clinically fit appearance
